Preparation for MRCP Exam E-mail

MRCP is recognized all over the world, and bu finishing it you are considered as having the minimum required knowledge for a practicing physician.

See www.mrcpuk.org

There u'll find everything u need to know about the exam., overview, eligibility requirements, exam. dates, Fees, format, places, where and how to apply ... everything ...

The exam has got two parts, MRCP PART 1 (only theory)  and MRCP PART 2  which includes both the theory and clinical exams (PACES). the former should be passed 1st in order to be eligible for the latter.

Part-1 test mainly the clinical application of the basic knowledge in different specialities of medicine .. There r 200 best of five questions, all in the form of clinical scenario

To get started u should own the following:

1- Kumar & clerk book of medicine (always buy the last edition)
2- Essential revision notes for MRCP (edited by Kalra)
3- register in www.passmedicine.com
4- Subscribe to www.onexamination.com website .. this is the most important among all of these also www.passtest.co.uk helps alot.

medical-masterclass the very important and essential. Read all 12 module and do questions from website as many as you can it really helps alot.

The time needed for preparation varies widely from one candidate to another.. It depends on many things: u have been studying internal medicine for how long, how much of period u have been working in a medical department or ER, what was ur performance in medicine in univ. .... etc.
But anyway it is not less than 6 months by a rate of 8 - 10 hours per day.
It depends mainly on ur breadth of medical knowledge.

Finally, always remember that u should not sit for the exam until u r fully prepared .. NO HURRY .. because the aim is to be a good physician & not to pass the exam only .. LUCK doesnt play a major role in MRCP examinations because all the questions that appear in the exam r subjected to many researches and studies, so they put it in a way to kill the bias & keep the chances for luck at minimal levels.
It is a tough exam for the unprepared .. otherwise it is not.
